Midnight Golf Program, Alkebu-lan Village and Detroit Meals on Wheels Program Each Receive $85,000
More than 215 vendors and team members teed off on Monday, Aug. 21, for Greektown Casino-Hotel’s ninth annual Charity Golf Outing, raising a record $255,000 to benefit three local non-profit organizations: Alkebu-lan Village, Midnight Golf Program and Detroit Area Agency on Aging’s (DAAA) Meals on Wheels program. Greektown Casino-Hotel held its annual event at the Detroit Golf Club which included a day of golf followed by dinner and an auction.
“We are passionate about making a positive, lasting impact on the communities where our team members and guests reside,” said Jason Gregorec, chief executive officer and general manager, Greektown Casino-Hotel. “These three organizations share our passion for the success of the city that we have been a part of for 17 years and we are proud to be able to support them.”
Since its inception, Greektown Casino‐Hotel’s annual golf outing, with the help of generous sponsors, has raised more than $1.4 million to benefit various Detroit-area charities, including Alternative for Girls, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, Rhonda Walker Foundation, Ronald McDonald House of Southeast Detroit and Think Detroit PAL.
Proceeds from this year’s event will be distributed to Midnight Golf Program, an empowerment and mentoring program that teaches life skills including college preparation, community activism, financial literacy, and golf; Alkebu-lan Village, an organization that uses martial arts to empower youth with concepts of mental preparation and moral precepts; and DCAA’s Meals on Wheels program that offers meals to homebound seniors and disabled adults.
