Rock Gaming LLC (“Rock Gaming”) announced today that Darlene Monzo will join the company as senior vice president and chief marketing officer, effective December 7, 2015, pending regulatory approvals. In her new role, Monzo will lead the marketing initiatives and strategic direction for the Detroit-based organization, which includes properties in Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky.
“Darlene has enjoyed a distinguished career with a number of innovative companies in the gaming entertainment industry,” said Mark Dunkeson, president and chief operating officer of Rock Gaming. “She will be a valuable addition to our leadership team during a period of exciting expansion for our company. Her passion for the industry and track record for innovation will contribute prominently to Rock Gaming’s focus on our customers.”
Rock Gaming is transitioning operational responsibilities of its three wholly-owned Ohio properties from affiliates of Caesars Entertainment Operating Company, Inc., with an expected completion date of mid-2016. As part of the transition, Rock Gaming will launch a new brand in Ohio, a project that Monzo will spearhead. The company also owns and operates Greektown Casino-Hotel in Detroit and Turfway Park in Kentucky.
Monzo is a highly respected industry veteran who has held executive marketing positions with a number of major entertainment companies – including Trump Entertainment, Boyd Gaming, Penn National, Greenwood Gaming and Caesars Entertainment – in gaming jurisdictions across the country.
