Rock Gaming LLC, a Midwest-based gaming partnership focused on the development of urban casinos, today announced that industry veteran Mark Dunkeson has joined the company as president and chief operating officer. In his new role, Dunkeson will oversee the company’s strategic partnerships and operational responsibilities to advance Rock Gaming’s six-facility portfolio, pending regulatory approvals.
The announcement was made by Rock Gaming CEO Matt Cullen. “As we continue to scale up our gaming properties, Mark’s blend of strategic corporate gaming experience and strong industry leadership will be a valuable addition to our established partner and property management teams,” Cullen said. “Mark’s breadth of experience and proven track record will also help Rock Gaming further entrench the urban casino philosophy.”
Dunkeson brings more than 19 years of commercial gaming and hospitality experience to his new role. He joins Rock Gaming’s Detroit headquarters from Las Vegas, where he served as senior vice president of operations for several multi-property divisions of Station Casinos LLC since 2008. Most recently, Dunkeson was the senior vice president of operations for Station Casino’s luxury brand division, where he led and operated several destination gaming properties including Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa, and Green Valley Ranch Resort, Casino and Spa. Dunkeson previously led and operated five core Station gaming resorts and spent five years as Station’s corporate vice president of development where he executed the strategic direction for the company’s growth and expansion.
A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Dunkeson earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in government from New Mexico State University. He is relocating from Las Vegas to the metro Detroit area with his family.
